We have an opening for a scientist to lead the seed technology and –physiology research on our capsicum crops. This position is new and will be located within the Global Seed Technology Research team in the Netherlands.

As a scientist, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of new technologies that affect seed quality. This includes a strong understanding of physiological and physical principles in seed germination. The scientist will also be able to translate market requirements and strategic long-term goals in to mid- and short term goals. Additionally, the scientist will be representing the Monsanto Vegetable Division in external projects with universities and other companies and one will maintain and expand the global Monsanto Seed Technology Research network, which includes engineering, production research, product management, supply chain, operations, breeding technology and breeding. Finally, you will be responsible for supervising four lab technicians.
- University degree (PhD) for (plant) biology, (seed) physiology and related fields
- At least 2 years experience in the field of seed processing and germination is preferred
- Capability to work with and supervise lab technicians
- Decision making and problem solving skills. Capability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues
- Proven understanding of upgrading and germination principles (physiological and genetic)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced global and multicultural vegetable seed company
- Excellent communications skills including the capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communications
- Experience with project management and proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams |
