Research Assistant Technology Development

Fulltime (38 hours)

We are looking to recruit a: Research Assistant Technology Development.

In this position you will perform molecular biological research in direct cooperation with several different departments within the company. You will make use of modern molecular technologies such as:

• AFLP, DNA sequencing, SNP discovery and SNP genotyping, DNA-arrays, Q-PCR, RNA profiling, mutant-identification, tilling and gene-cloning.
  
  and more specific for Technology Development:
• SNPs (discovery, detection), gene mapping and identification, DNA-capture / enrichment target DNA, Next Generation Sequencing applications, comparative sequencing, PCR-based techniques, DNA extraction and tissue sampling methods.

You will be responsible for the initiation and execution of new genotyping methods to accelerate the “time-to-market” of new products. You will be up-to-date of new developments within the field of research.

Hierarchically you will report to the Scientist Technology Development.

We expect you to have:

• University or Higher Vocational Degree (HBO) in Molecular Biology or Plants Genetics.
• Experience with modern DNA and RNA-techniques.
• Comfortable with computational statistics & data analysis.
• Comfortable with bio-informatics (BLAST, homology search).
• Good knowledge of plant genetics is an advantage.
• Substantial knowledge of plant breeding is an advantage.
• Good communicative skills and a team player.
• Excellent analytical capability and creative.
• Capable to independently design and planning of experiments.
• Hands-on mentality.
• Good English verbal and writing skills.
